Services

St. Mary’s Outreach Center is committed to serving adults 55 and over so they can age in place. We offer case management for our clients in order get the assistance they need. We sponsor educational programs and workshops and host social events for the residents of Roland View Towers.

Case Management

Benefits Assistance

Our capable staff and volunteers help fill out the forms you need to get assistance. Call 410-366-3106 and we will help! Our office is at 3939 Roland Avenue in Roland View Towers.

We can help clients fill out applications for the following assistance programs.

  •  Energy Assistance (BGE)
  •  Eviction Prevention (Submitted to DHS and OHEP when funds are available)
  •  Extra Help (to help pay Part D premium) 
  •  Homeowners’ Tax Credit (Deadline October 1st each year)
  •  Housing Choice Voucher Application
  •  Income Tax Preparation for Homeowners and Renters
  •  Medicaid
  •  Medicare Advantage Part C
  •  Medicare Part D (prescriptions)
  •  Medicare Parts A and B
  •  Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB)
  •  Renters’ Tax Credits (Deadline October 1st each year)
  •  Senior Prescription Drug Assistance Program (SPDAP)
  •  SNAP (food stamps)
  •  Special Low Income Medicare Beneficiary (SLMB)
  •  Temporary Cash Assistance(TCA)
  •  Veteran Resources
  •  Water4All (water bill assistance)

*There are deadlines for some applications. SMOC staff will be able to tell you when you meet what the deadlines are and if there is funding available.


Referrals

We refer to agencies and nonprofits that provide resources to older adults, such as counseling services, caregivers, legal aid, emergency food, housing and transportation. Our new partnership with Medstar Union Memorial and Good Samaritan Community Health Program.


Emergency Assistance

We currently do case by case support as needed for emergency food, prescriptions and incontinence supplies when funds are available.

Educational Programs and Workshops

We host programs about financial, health-related, and psychosocial (isolation, sleep quality, mental health) topics affecting older adults. Visit our Events page to find out what is coming up.

Social Events

We host social events for the residents of Roland View Towers at 3838 and 3939 Roland Avenue. Our most successful events include a Mother’s Day tea, Father’s Day cookout, National Night Out, and an annual health fair.

    The Maryland Department of Aging provides free durable medical equipment to Marylanders with any illness, injury, or disability, regardless of age, at no cost.

    Find out what programs are available for older adults including Maryland Access Point, caregiver and dementia support, and more.

  • Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development

    This agency has loan and grant programs for home repair and improvements.

  • Maryland Renter’s Tax Credit

    Provides property tax credits for renters who meet certain requirements. The credit is based upon the relationship between rent and income.

  • Mobility

    Mobility is a shared ride service offered from the first exterior door of your home or pick up location to the first exterior door of your destination.

  • National Council on Aging

    The national advocacy organization speaking out for older adults.

  • Senior Assisted Living Subsidy Program

    This state program helps low- to moderate-income adults aged 62 years and older pay for assisted living programs. The subsidy can cover the cost of services provided in assisted living, including meals, personal care, and 24-hour supervision for residents who need help living independently.

  • Social Security Administration

    Apply for benefits, sign up for Medicare, plan for retirement all on the SSA website.

  • Water4All

    Water4All is a water billing discount program that assists customers before water services are cut off or liens imposed.
